AMN Healthcare is facing unprecedented challenges created by the COVID-19 virus. We feel it is important to share information about how decisions are made at AMN during this crisis, and the ways we are balancing the impact of these decisions on our clients, healthcare professionals, team members and others that depend on AMN. We will be sharing insights and information on how AMN responds by Doing the Right Thing.

Top FAQs

How will AMN Healthcare support me if I have a medical issue after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine?

We encourage you to contact the facility leader and follow the established facility policy and procedure. Remember that most vaccines have expected side effects to include sore arm, fatigue, low grade fever. These generally last only a day or two. (CDC Vaccine Side Effects)

If you develop severe symptoms or believe you are experiencing an allergic reaction, please seek medical attention at the facility designated location and inform your AMN Healthcare representative. For additional information, please refer to the CDC.

In addition to facility notification, please call the AMN COVID-19 Crisis Hotline at 800-887-1456 (option 2) to notify us of any serious medical issues that occur after vaccination. Our clinical managers are here to support you regarding vaccination-related side effects/reaction.

Is there a cost of obtaining the COVID-19 vaccine? Will AMN Healthcare cover the cost for employed healthcare professionals?

AMN Healthcare has learned that there is no direct cost for the vaccine. Any administrative costs will be covered by us on your behalf. If the facility you are working at has any questions about billing please direct them to their AMN Healthcare representative.

What if I don’t want to be given the COVID-19 vaccine? Will AMN Healthcare accept a declination for the COVID-19 vaccine?

As of December 2020, receiving the COVID-19 vaccine is highly encouraged but has not been mandated for healthcare professionals. AMN Healthcare supports and promotes evidenced based scientific clinical trials and practice built on a foundation of thorough data analysis. We will continue to provide you with updated information from reputable scientific agencies and encourage you to bring your questions or concerns forward. We are in this together.

Because the vaccine is highly encouraged but not required, AMN Healthcare will accept a declination at this time. As more information is provided in the coming weeks, we will provide an update with any changes at the federal, state and/or local community/facility level. In the meantime, please refer to the CDC and/or your state website for more information.

If you have specific questions about your facility’s policy or procedure for COVID-19 vaccination, please reach out to your facility leaders first. If you have additional needs, please contact your AMN Healthcare representative. We will update this question as more information becomes available.

Will AMN Healthcare support my choice to obtain the COVID-19 vaccine before or during my assignment?

Your health and safety are paramount to us, and we support your decision to obtain the vaccine. Your AMN Healthcare representative will work with you on the process and submission of documentation. We will continue to promote mask wearing, social distancing and handwashing, in conjunction with vaccine administration, to keep you and our communities safe. AMN Healthcare provides 24/7 clinical care services should you need additional support. Please contact your AMN Healthcare representative or our AMN Crisis Hotline at 1-800-887-1456 with your questions.

How will I know if the facility has the vaccine and if I will be able to receive it while on assignment?

Your facility supervisor will provide information on COVID-19 vaccine distribution, prioritization, administration and documentation procedures. Please attend facility scheduled meetings and read your emails and/or text messages to stay current on changes at your facility.

Will AMN Healthcare be providing vaccinations for travel healthcare professionals?

AMN Healthcare is not a provider and will not be receiving the vaccine to store and distribute. Our clients have the facilities and capabilities to store the vaccine safely, manage the vaccine prioritization for front line healthcare workers and report to the state and national databases. AMN Healthcare is partnering closely with healthcare organizations and pharmacies who, as designated providers, are receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. As we learn more about each healthcare system and facility implementation process, we will provide up to date information to you about the distribution process.
