Breaking Down Barriers to Clinician Movement

Ensuring we have the right clinicians in the right place at the right time has never been more critical than it is today. The demand for many healthcare professionals was already near peak levels, and now the COVID 19 crisis further exacerbates a strained and complicated system for state licensure.

A different system is needed – and especially to respond to this crisis. AMN leaders across the company have been in daily dialogue with licensing boards and federal and state officials to create awareness and prompt action to ease this burden that can slow the mobility of clinicians. And fortunately, progress is being made, and some states have issued emergency orders to allow greater access to licensed professionals across the US.

More work is needed. Constraints and confusion still exist, and we are doing our best to further ease these restrictions and navigate the complexity of the regulatory bodies. We do believe that some good will come of this in the form of regulatory changes that will become permanent and better enable the healthcare workforce to move around the country and deliver care where needed.

In the meantime, we will continue to pour every ounce of energy and resources we can into helping clinicians quickly move to where they are so desperately needed.
